Creating Intelligence Products from Geographic Data Assets Introduction to spatial mapping, analysis, and statistics with a focus on crime mapping (2008).  It is formatted for the Web from a PowerPoint presentation and includes detailed notes appearing in a frame beneath each slide.  An excellent reference is Spatial Aspects of Crime by Derek Paulsen and Matthew Robinson, which (unlike the majority of GIS related texts) balances its presentation with insightful, critical appraisal.
