The files available here are all in Excel format. Link to them directly (they will appear in a new browser window) or download them using your browser's "save as" command. They are 7 to 35 kilobytes and contain only a few hundred distinct values, except where noted.
All these datasets are real and are presented substantially as they were first delivered by the client or laboratory for statistical analysis. Therefore they may contain transcription and reporting errors, internal inconsistencies, and even formatting and typographical errors.
Identifiers, such as sample names, well names, sample dates, and location coordinates, have been changed, but no analyte name or measurement result has been altered. In some cases only a subset of data is provided in order to limit dataset size and to reduce the frequency of nondetects.
Chlorocarbons in groundwater 234 measurements of halocarbons in groundwater monitoring and supply wells during a two-year period. Includes limits of detection (LOD) and quantitation (LOQ).
Depleted uranium in soil piles Measurements of depleted uranium activity in five soil piles. There are 34 to 67 results available in each pile.
Metals in soils Measurements of three metals at depths from zero to six feet in over 20 borings.
Metals in surface soils Measurements of twelve metals in 17 surface soil samples obtained in three areas: background, site, and "fill".
Process monitoring Measurement of input and output concentrations of ten metals (and total beta activity) in a liquid process stream at five weekly intervals.
Radionuclides in groundwater Five quarterly measurements of four naturally-occurring radionuclides in six wells.
Soil gas Results of a soil gas investigation in search of the source of chlorinated hydrocarbons in a public groundwater supply system.
Cone penetrometer test logs (zipped spreadsheet, 160 KB). Over 4,000 raw and processed readings from a cluster of 21 CPTs obtained at five-centimeter intervals from ground surface to about 10 meters deep. Includes surveyed horizontal coordinates and some elevations. This represents about 5% of the original data. Here is a 3D image of the full original data set. (Added 1 March 2001.)
Arsenic (Class 1) 40 arsenic measurements in soil.
Soil gas (Class 6) dBase format. Measurements of 20 volatile compounds in over 100 soil gas samples. Includes field blank and trip blank results.
