This is cool: an extension that remembers your selections and calculations in a table, lets you redo them at any time, and writes clean commented Avenue code that turns what you did into scripts that work right away, all the time! Indeed, each calculation can be turned into Avenue code at the click of a button: see the "Example script" page. DescriptionMemorized Calculations offers the familiar ArcView dialogs--the Query dialog, the Field Calculator, and the New Field dialog. You access them by double-clicking on a memorized formula within a list of formulas presented to you. Your changes can be immediately tested without damaging your tables.
Here is a screen shot of Memorized Calculations immediately after it has executed a series of four memorized formulas. Each formula consists of an optional preliminary selection of records. Only the selected records will be changed by the formula. Then, the designated field will be computed as indicated in the [Formula] column. In effect, the [Selection] determines the row or rows to recompute and the [Field] determines the column in your table. This gives you the precision to designate individual cells or ranges of cells for recomputation, just like your spreadsheet does. Memorized calculations are saved with each ArcView Table document individually--they are part of your project. A demo version will shortly be available from our "free software" links. The demo memorizes calculations, but it does not provide the coolest feature--Avenue script writing--or the time-saving conveniences of copy and paste to the clipboard, save and load from files.
