We offer services to help you collect, maintain, understand, and exploit scientific and technical data.

Depending on the business you are in, we work best with you in various ways:

Private Sector. We help you develop and improve strategies for environmental monitoring, site closures, and achieving environmental compliance.  These situations require data, which you either have or will need to get.  We provide resources to maximize the value of these data in achieving your goals.  See "Taking risks, Reaping the Benefits" for an example of what this means.

Investment and Financial. We estimate the value and financial risk of environmentally impaired properties.  This information is invaluable for meeting SEC reporting requirements, assessing insurance premiums, negotiating property transfers, and computing insurance recoveries.  We provide these services for a fee or as equity partners in a transaction.

Consulting. We team with environmental consultants to enhance your analysis, presentation, and management of data.  Services include GIS, database management, statistical graphics, environmental statistics, and experienced in-house training in all of these.

Legal. We provide experienced and objective experts for litigation support and testimony, decision analysis for developing strategy, and statistical graphics and 3D visualizations for communication.

Public sector. Our staff has worked for environmental agencies and provides expert assistance to agencies and non-profit organizations, often pro bono.

We have a distinguished record of improving environmental decision-making for private and public sector clients, consultants, and attorneys.  Our skills with managing and assessing environmental information have helped clients avoid or win litigation, win negotiations, limit liability, invest wisely, and save money.  Our services have helped clients develop and improve their strategies for managing environmental risk and liabilities.

Experience, excellence and innovation in the application of statistical and graphical techniques separate us from many others attempting to offer similar services.  Practical experience, especially in all facets of environmental investigation, remediation, negotiation, and litigation, enables us to find good solutions quickly and inexpensively.  A continuing investment in computing technology and the ability to use it well make us unusually efficient and cost-effective.

Please call us to discuss your projects and how QD can assist you to succeed in your efforts.

Scope of services

Site investigations.  Cost efficient statistical sampling plans (obtaining just the right number of samples).  Data analysis (maximizing the value of data obtained).

Site remediation.  Cost-effective closure plans.  Demonstrating that remediation is complete.  Reducing remedial costs.  Geostatistical calculations of remedial areas and volumes.  Strategies for identifying and coping with uncertainty.

Environmental monitoring.  Design and evaluation of groundwater and air monitoring plans.  Improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Risk assessments.  Computing appropriate concentrations.  Determining compounds of concern.  Demonstrating lack of risk.  Ecological risk assessment.  Monte Carlo and probabilistic calculations to improve risk estimates.

Litigation support.  Peer review of engineering and investigation reports.  Identifying problems in data sets.  Critical evaluations of sampling methods and data analysis.  Liability allocation.

Data presentation and analysis.  Geographic Information Systems development.  Mapping.  Remote sensing.   Spatial analysis.  Scientific visualization (3D and animation).  Quantitative graphics.

Negotiation.  Presenting technical data and information to regulators and the public.  Explaining site conditions.

Regulatory and permitting support.  RCRA groundwater monitoring program evaluation and development.  NPDES reporting.

Scientific study.  Statistical advice to optimize data collection, sampling, and monitoring.  Statistical analysis of engineering and scientific results.

Decision support.  Financial analysis of business strategies.  Assessment of uncertainties.  Development of trade-offs for decisions with multiple valuations.

Financial analysis.  Assessing the value of environmentally impaired property.  Identifying, quantifying, and managing financial risks.

Modeling.  Development and application of mathematical models and computer programs.
